How can I have my "personal day of Pentacost?"
Christians need to receive the full Salvation package to live an exciting and victorious life as God intended. God sent his son, Jesus Christ so that our sins would be forgiven and that we can have a personal relationship with him through Jesus. (John 3:16)
But, before Jesus died on the cross of Calvary, He advised his disciples, "I will not leave you as orphans... (John 14:16-19) "Do not leave this place until the comforter (Holy Spirit) has come. I will send him to you. He will guide into all truth and righteousness." (Luke 24:49)
On the day of Pentecost, the disciples waited in the upper room for the promise of the father, the Holy Spirit. The sound of a "mighty rushing wind" and "tongues of fire" came and sat upon each one of the disciples. Instantly they became "filled with the Holy Spirit" (called the Baptism of the Holy Spirit) and began speaking in tongues as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:1-4)
Jesus told his disciples to "go out into all the world and preach the Gospel for he who believes and is baptised will be saved. And these signs and wonders will follow: they will cast out demons, lay hands on the sick and they will recover, they will be protected from deadly poison and they will speak in tonuges." (Mark 16:14-18) [This is the Holy Spirit baptism and not John's initial Water baptism.]**
Jesus intended each one of us to do ministry. When "clothed with the Holy Spirit" as the bible says, or baptised in the Holy Spirit, we can do ministry far beyond our own expectations. (John 14:12-14)
In Apostle Paul's ministry, he came across a group of men that where baptised with water**, but had not heard of the Holy Spirit yet. He told them they needed to be baptised into the name of Jesus Christ. So he laid hands on them, prayed and they began to "speak in tongues and prophesy". (Acts 19:3-7)
Like this group of men who didn't know about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, you too will receive your personal day of Pentacost! Contact Rev. Gordon Williams to pray with you.
**[This was John the Baptist's ministry, to baptise people with water for repentance, the forgiveness of sins. But he said, "There is one who is coming who is much greater that I, who will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire!" This person he referred to was Jesus. (Luke 3:16)]
"Baptism of the Holy Spirit" Bible references:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
'John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.' (Luke 3:16)
'And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.' (John 14:16-19)
"When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." (Acts 2:1-4)
"I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high." (Luke 24:49)
'And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.” Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus." When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. Now the men were about twelve in all.' (Acts 19:3-7)
'Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”' (Mark 16:14-18)
'“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.' (John 14:12-14)
